Golf Experiences

Every golfer wants to hit the ball farther, this is one of the most common topics we work on with students. The longer the drives the shorter the distance into the hole which can lead to closer approach shots.

Goal:

When looking to maximize the distance on your driver, we want to make sure the attack angle is positive. A positive attack angle is when the driver is moving up through impact. This type of angle will launch the ball higher and with less spin, creating the most optimal conditions. This type of angle is used by the best players in the world when they want to hit the longest possible drive.

Setup to Practice:

To practice this key move place an empty sleeve of golf balls approximately one foot in front of your tee. Start with small 3/4 swings to get the feel of the driver nicking the tee then rising over the empty sleeve of balls. Once you have added speed to that of a full swing you’re ready to add the golf ball.

Full swing with ball:

Now your ready to add the ball! Make sure your tee height is high enough, so half of the ball is above the top of the driver at setup. The goal is to strike the golf ball then avoid the sleeve of golf balls, while the driver head is moving up. Visually you should see a higher initial launch with a ball the flattens at the apex and lands shallower. This will have your drives landing with less spin and getting that desired roll out when the ball lands. Practicing this key move will get you hitting the ball longer in no time.
